elcome to my new blog. If you came here looking for the old site, you'll notice that there are a few changes here. Actually, lots of changes...important ones so that hopefully my friends and clients can get to know a little bit more about me and my work. So here's a little background:

A few years ago, I was given what was an opportunity of a lifetime; the chance to work with a world-class team of photographers. I was drawn to their innovative style and forward-thinking mindset, and it was from there that our team and my passion for photography grew...and grew. Everyday since has been a learning experience for me, and photography continues to be a huge part of my life. I hope you enjoy this new site and feel free to leave your comments anytime. - Ryan

Finishing Touches

08.20.09

WHEN:
7/30/09 3:18 PM

WHERE:
The Fanger Estate, Hauula-Oahu

This was my first time shooting at the Fanger Estates located in Hauula, Oahu. Everything was running late that day--blame it on the traffic mess that snaked around the North Shore. But with family and friends helping to get all the details in order, Laurie and Michael's wedding continued on without a glitch. While she got ready, the bride's mother quickly ironed the dress to perfection.

Just moments before the ceremony, the bride takes a few minutes to relax and enjoy the day ahead.

Shave Ice Weather

08.09.09

WHEN:
1:45 PM

WHERE:
Honolulu, Hawaii

With the heat being almost unbearable today, shave ice was definitely in order. We decided to try out Shimazu Store on North School Street which was a close enough drive, especially after the big lunch we just had in town. Kelly was dying to try out some of the flavors that they serve, after reading several great reviews on Yelp about it. As you can see, they have a ton of different kinds...everything from strawberry to exotic things, like buttered popcorn. It's almost too difficult to choose...

For a place that has almost no parking, it's amazing how many people make their way here. On our walk to the store, we just followed the crowd of people all headed in the same direction. When we got up to the storefront, there was a line out the door of locals, tourists and everyone else just waiting to choose their flavor of shave ice.

Kelly tried the red velvet cream and melona bar combination...with vanilla ice-cream of course. This was the "small" order, and she barely finished it. There were some folks walking out of the store with shave ice cones the size of soccer balls! As for the final review? She said it was the best shave ice, ever...even though part of it ended up on the ground in the alleyway outside.

Some visitors from Michigan enjoying their vacation time in Honolulu. Check out the size of their shave ice!
